Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

So about that talk of a younger person taking over the role of Indiana Jones…

  • When the rumours first hit the internet that the new Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie may feature alien turtles, said internet nearly broke in half (or half-shell?). The reason for a response that – let’s go with – passionate, was because unless you were living under a rock in the 80’s/90’s, chances are that Turtles were a huge part of your childhood. And it’s that iconic pop culture status, and the history of how the whole concept even came about, that is being explored in this new documentary, Turtle Power.

  • Hey, look! It’s our first official pics from Jurassic World! Hey, look! They’re all just pics of humans with not a dinosaur in sight! At least we get to see Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson, and they’re cool AND WHERE ARE MY DINOS?!
  • And you need to recock your crossbows and sharpen your kitanas, because there’s a whole lot of zombies on the way. According to The Walking Dead executive producer David Alpert, the show, which will be returning for its fifth season soon, has been planned out for a very, very long time.

“I happen to love working from source material, specifically because we have a pretty good idea of what season 10 is gonna be. We know where season 11 and 12…we have benchmarks and milestones for those seasons if we’re lucky enough to get there.”

And hopefully they don’t spend the next six seasons just looking for a girl in a barn.

  • Tom Hardy is an incredibly talented actor who can play just about any character. Twice! And as Exhibit A, I present this first look pic from Legend in which Hardy plays both R0nnie and Reggie Kray, twin brother gangsters who ruled the London underground in the 1960’s.

  • Did you catch the clever Wargames homage in the recent Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Pretty cool, right? Well, snarky one-liners from Black Widow is not the only way that the classic 1983 movie is still remembered today. No, there’s also the little thing about how it inspired the creation of no less than six US legal bills. Yes, an old Matthew Broderick movie changed US laws. And you can learn all about it and more in the list of 5 Amazing Ways Wargames Changed the World.
  • As the catchy theme song informs us, Spider-Man does whatever a spider can, and apparently what a spider can do is maybe get delayed. AICN’s Jeremy Smith is apparently hearing rumblings that The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is scheduled for release on June 10, 2016, may be getting pushed back to some time in 2017. There’s no reason given for the possible delay, so chalk this one up as a very big “maybe” for now.
  • Ever wondered what happened to all the alien bodies at the end of The Avengers? A business opportunity, that’s what!
