Extras-final

Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Extras---divider-thin

Extras-bullet-points-micro3We’ve gone roughly several peta-seconds without posting any new stuff foe the Amazing Spider-Man 2. I need to complete my rough cut of the film still, so here’s two new featurettes which include new footage of Paul Giamatti being a very angry Russian gangster.

Extras-bullet-points-micro3While speaking with RTL, Avatar sequel director James Cameron did what James Cameron does best, because only James Cameron can do what James Cameron does. And that’s give status updates on the dragon-rape sequels, which will be made that much quicker thanks to technology:

“We’re still in the early stages. Right now we’re developing the software. I’m writing the scripts. We’re designing all the creatures and characters and the settings, and so on. So, I’m not actually directing yet, but I’m doing all the other creative processes that lead up to that… It’s going very well. I think it’s going to be spectacular. You’ll see new worlds, new habitats, new cultures. The primary conflict between the human view kind of dominating nature and the Na’vi view of being integrated into nature is the same, but it manifests itself in very different ways.”

“[We’re] looking at high frame rate. I’m studying that. I haven’t made a final decision yet, whether the entire film will be made at high frame rate or parts of it. You know, we’ll be shooting at a native resolution of probably 4K and so then there should be a lot of true 4K theaters by then as well.”

Extras-bullet-points-micro3Oh Bryan Singer, you do love to tweet behind the scenes photos, don’t you? Here’s a new one of the rather not-so-Beastly Nicholas Hoult, using cutting edge technology that my ancient Nokia X3 has easily surpassed.

Extras-bullet-points-micro3Yo Robbie, I didn’t hear no bell! Robert De Niro may have just gone a couple of rounds with Sly Stallone in Grudge Match, but he isn’t ready to hang up his gloves just yet. Here’s a first look at the next boxing film that he happens to be in, which tells the tale of Roberto Duran, a top-class boxer who went toe to toe with the likes of Thomas Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hangler.

hands-of-stone

Hands of Stone stars Edgar Ramirez as Duran, while De Niro stars as his trainer Ray Arcel.

Extras-bullet-points-micro3One more photo, and then we’re done, I promise. When Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman, the internet reaction was that of “BUT SHE AM A GURL!”. Since then, the actress has been bulking up to play the Amazonian Princess, as she Facebooked the following photo of muscle mass that completely dwarfs my tiny arms.

Extras-bullet-points-micro3Growing up, the coolest heroes on the block were the Power Rangers, teenagers with attitude and gigantic Jaegers with which they rolled into combat. And out of all those Rangers, the White Ranger was hot shit. But could the mightiest of morphin’ Rangers go toe to toe with the undead ninja himself, Scorpion from Mortal Kombat? Well get over here and see for yourself.

  1. LOL!!! You said Marvin Hangler!! Tonsil :p
Anyway, Spiderman 2, meh, love Paul Giamatti but so tired of Spidey.

+1000 man points for the Blade Runner poster.

James Cameron, bah humbug, 2019 release date just to annoy the studio, guaranteed :p
(I wish he’d do a Terminator release, not reboot mind you, love it as is)

Robert De Niro acting his age, sounds watchable.
