Extras-750-final

Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

  • A while back I did an article on the Top 15 Actors in Unrecognizable Roles who through the power of Greyskull makeup magic completely transformed themselves on-screen. Maybe you didn’t like my list or even read my article at all because you don’t like me (I don’t like you either, Darryn) and want an alternative. Well, ask and I shall provide with this cool video on the Top 10 Makeup Transformations of All Time.

  • X-Men: Days of Future Past will be hitting DVD and Blu Ray on October 14, but if you just have a hankering for a bit more superpowered Anna Paquin in your movie diet, then you may want to hold off on making that purchase. An extended version of the film, dubbed the “Rogue Cut”, will be made available in the first half of next year. This extended cut will feature an additional 10 minutes of footage that fills in Paquin’s brief story arc as Rogue which was almost entirely excised from the theatrical cut. And according to writer-producer Simon Kinberg, this is not just some paltry addition:

“It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie. We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film—behind the camera, and in front of it… Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.”

It had previously been revealed that the story would have something to do with older Xavier and Magneto going on a quest of their own in the future to get Rogue’s help with something.

  • And now for your daily dose of WTF: A lady by the name of Isabella Tanikumi (who, by the way, has no ice powers, just so that we’re clear) is suing Disney because Frozen is a ripoff of her life. Seriously. And no [INCOMING OBVIOUS JOKE WARNING], she won’t just let it go.

  • Phew. Ok, guys. We can stop worrying that the Blade Runner sequel. It’s going to be really good. I know this is true because Ridley Scott himself has said so.

“[Harrison Ford and I] met the night before he had the accident [on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII], so I hope I had nothing to do with it.”

“It’s on the charts. I can’t say when that would be yet, because of [Ford’s] thing with ‘Star Wars’. It’s a sequel – it’s what happens next. It’s quite surprisingly clever.”

“I’m happy to be the ensemble. I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think [Hawkeye’s] a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like ‘Cap 3.’ ”

Wait, Cap 3?!

  • Despite starring two of the funniest men in Britain, I’ve honestly never heard of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s The Trip To Italy before today. Based on this hilarious clip from the movie though, when the two men do all kinds of impersonations from The Dark Knight Rises, I will definitely be seeking it out though.

  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has several problems, but one of the most irksome is that the film has about 3 different endings. You’re just getting ready for the credits and then BAM!, another supervillain for Spidey to dispatch of. It’s rather annoying, and would have been much better if they had just stuck with one ending. Maybe even this particularly funny one.

  • WOAH! You may think that another Bill & Ted movie is a bad idea seeing as once-teenage stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are both way older now. But according to Winter, not only is Bill & Ted 3 still happening (despite the massively long wait), but them being old is kind of the point.

“It just takes a long time to put a movie together. Now we’re having to build this thing in public, which is fine. I just feel bad [the fans] have to get dragged through this long, boring, protracted process.”

[Bill & Ted] will be 40-something, and it’s all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up. It’s really sweet and really f*cking funny.”

“But it’s a Bill & Ted movie, that’s what it is. It’s for the fans of Bill & Ted. It fits very neatly in the [series]. It’s not going to feel like a reboot. The conceit is really funny: What if you’re middle-aged, haven’t really grown up, and you’re supposed to have saved the world and maybe, just maybe, you kinda haven’t?”

[AIR GUITAR!]

While The November Man is about as dull as derivative as they come, Donaldson has made some superb movies in the past, in particular the crackling Thirteen Days and The Bank Job, so let’s hope that that’s the version of Donaldson who shows up for this.

  • True Detective towered above most shows on TV this year, but sometimes we got to remember the little guys. Or little guys, in the case of Tiny Detectives, a hilarious parody starring pocket-sized actresses Kate Mare and Ellen page.
