- It’s time for a rap battle for the ages! The one throwdown you’ve all been waiting for between the two most erudite characters in pop culture right now! That’s right, it’s Hodor vs Groot!

- Despite my trepidation that audiences won’ love it as much as I did, Kingsman: The Secret Service has been making box office money by the truckload, with a current global haul of just shy of $300 million. And outside of the US the biggest contributor to that figure has been South Korea, where the movie out performed the likes of Bond and Bourne – the two very same franchises it sends up. So just how crazy are the South Koreans for a dapper Colin Firth kicking serious butt? So crazy that since the movie’s release, the country has seen a gigantic spike in the sale of formal mensware like the double-breasted suits worn by Firth in the film.

- “We’re all paaaaart of the Alien Nation!”….. Oh, wait. I may have my late 1980’s movies confused with late 1980’s Janet Jackson songs. Either way, Alien Nation is coming back as Twentieth Century Fox have tapped Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to pen a remake of the 1988 sci-fi movie. The original was set in the near future where an alien society has come to Earth and have to co-exist with the human population who treat them rather poorly. The film focused on a racist cop played by James Caan who has to team up with a Newcomer partner played by Mandy Patinkin. The original movie would eventually spawn a short-lived TV series as well as several TV movies, so of course it’s being remade because nobody is going to ever accuse it of being just another District 9.
- Here’s your first look at Pacific Rim: Tales From the Drift, the brand new comic book spinoff for the Guillermo Del Toro movie that was just announced by Legendary. This is of course not the only Pacific Rim goodness we’ll be getting before the movie sequel in 2017, as a Pacific Rim animated show is also supposedly on the way.
- It seems that every other week or so, I see some editorial on the internet trying to give me reasons as to why I should care about Lena Dunham’s Girls, but I just really really don’t. I would probably pay more attention to the feminism-heavy HBO drama though if it was directed by Michael Bay.
- Mark Twain famously said that you should “never let the truth get in the way of a good story”. Which is a saying that you may as well declare as Hollywood’s official motto, going by Cracked’s list of 6 Movies Based On A True Story That Left Out Important Stuff.
- Whoo hoo! Time for some more raping and pillaging!… Wait, no. I don’t mean I want to rape and pillage. I am of course referring to the news that History has just renewed Vikings for a fourth season.
- There are very few tropes in movie history that are cooler than a badass hero delivering some cold one-liner just before dispatching the bad guy. Over the years we’ve seen some infinitely quotable classics like 300‘s “This is Sparta!” and Terminator 2‘s “Hasta la vista, baby!”, and you can find all of those and more in this incredibly cool Pre-Mortem One-Liner supercut.
- And now here’s a totally unsubstantiated story from an infamous tabloid rag that I can fully get behind 100%. The UK’s The Sun newspaper (via GeekTyrant) are claiming that ex-Doctor Who star Matt Smith is currently the favourite to headline Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Smith is apparently being consider for the lead role of the globe-trotting “magizooligist” Newt Scamander in the David Yates directed spinoff which is to be penned by none other that Harry Potter creator JK Rowling herself. While the film will be set in the Harry Potter universe, it will have nothing to do with the story of that famous boy wizard, as it takes places decades before any of the events of those books.
- It always comes as a big surprise to most people when it’s pointed out to them that in all of Rambo: First Blood, Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo only kills one person. And even then, it’s not completely his fault. But hot damn has Stallone ever made up for that lack of lethality in the rest of his career, as you can see by this nearly 35-minute long supercut of every kill by every character in Stallone’s career. Yes, even that time he pretended to be a blonde housewife so that he could shoot a melodramatic Rutger Hauer.
