Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Another day, another poster for The Hangover 3. After being treated to Mr Chow’s grand entry, John Goodman’s disapproving face and Ed Helm’s paternal side, we now get a look at star Bradley Cooper’s…. Well, actually he’s not doing much of anything. He’s just standing there. Righto.

And the Black Panther plot thickens. After actor Morris Chestnut posted a statement on Twitter and Facebook, that sounded like he was perhaps cast as the superhero in an upcoming Marvel movie about the comic book character, it obviously got fans’ attentions. The fact that he then fervently tried to delete said statements, maybe on Marvel’s demands, added even more weight to the story. But it seems that Chestnut may not be through letting cats out of bags quite yet, as was evidenced when he responded to a fan on Twitter who was excited to see him in the movie.

@Morris_Chestnut: “Not final. #BlackPanther may be in #avengers2 first.”

Now whether that means that his casting as Black Panther is not final, or whether he’s been cast but the character’s appearance in The Avengers 2 is not final, is still up for debate. But the fact of the matter is, Morris Chestnut is obviously linked. And probably also in a bit of trouble with Marvel’s PR department.

Do you struggle knowing your Javier Bardiem from your Jeffrey Dean Morgan, your William Hurt from your William Heard? Well, then Pajiba’s Layperson’s Guide to Hollywood’s Confusing Doppelgangers is the article for you!

And in case you’re wondering, no Zoeey Deschanel and Katy Perry are not on there. Nobody can tell them apart.

Have you ever let out what you thought would be a fart but then turned out to be… something more? Well, that was sort of what it was like back in 1997, when – after achieving reasonable box office success with Batman Forever two years previously – Joel Schumacher unleashed its sequel, Batman and Robin, on unsuspecting fans. For all the neon colours that Schumacher used in the film, he may as well just have painted everything brown. It was poop, is what I’m saying. Hell, even the cast and crew thought so.

Speaking about movies released from the literal bowels of hell, Marlon Wayan’s spoof comedy, A Haunted House, is getting a sequel because apparently enough people actually paid money to go see it.

This is why we can’t have nice things, people.

In probably the least surprising revelation ever, Spider-Man villain Electro, is not a law-abiding citizen. This bit of news was confirmed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb when he tweeted this set pic, with the caption “Day 45. This is what happens when you try to give Electro a ticket.”

Looks like geriatric action heroes Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s next team-up, The Tomb, is getting a name change. The film, which sees Sly as a maximum security prison designer who gets wrongfully convicted and locked up in the supposedly inescapable prison that he designed and now needs the help of Arnie’s prison crime boss to break out, will now be known as The Escape Plan. Along with the name change, the film’s release date will also be moved up from 27 September to 20 September.

Although I won’t consider myself a petrolhead, I – like most other boys – spent hours of my childhood playing with toy cars. Back then, all I had was the badly simulated engine noises from my mouth, to make me believe that I was in some high stakes car chase. Today though, kids have a whole lot more. Take for example this next clip, where a bunch of folks took their toy cars, and using some editing , recreated the entire trailer to Fast & Furious 6.

Short film maker (he did the post-apocalyptic Ruinturned first time feature director Wes Ball is apparently still coming to grips with the rules of the PR game, as he gave away the identity of his young starlet for his adaptation of YA bestseller, The Maze Runner

“Aml Ameen and Kaya Scodelario were mesmerizing on camera today.”

“Oops. Did I just reveal @kScodders is our Teresa? :)”

Kaya Scodelario made her feature film debut on Duncan Jones’ brilliant Moon, but is probably more well known for her role in British teen drama series, Skins. She’ll be playing the female lead, Teresa, a mysterious figure in James Dashner’s dystopian sci-fi novel. Here’s the blurb for it, which does sound rather intriguing.

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

If I were to ask you to take a guess at which actor/actress was the biggest piece of box office kryptonite in Hollywood over the last 5 years, I’m sure I’d get names like Eddie Murphy, Taylor Kitsch, hell maybe even a Pauly Shore or Rob Schneider. But you’d be wrong. The real person sitting at the top (or is that bottom?) of that list is especially surprising when you consider just what a massive fanbase she – yes, she – has, both male and female.

According to Pajiba The Most Toxically Poisonous Box Office Star of the Last 5 Years, is none other than Noelle’s girl-crush, the stunning Olivia Wilde. I’m just as shocked as you are.

Looks like Anne Hathaway had a great time being catty with Chris Nolan on The Dark Knight Rises, as the Oscar winning actress has signed to join the director’s next film, Interstellar. Matthew McConnaughey was also recently cast in the sci-fi film, that will have something to do with a space voyage of some sorts. As usual with a Nolan film, that is about the extent of our knowledge.

If there are two buzz words that Hollywood loves to use, it’s “gritty” and “reboot”, often right next to each other. Unfortunately for them, these are words that often serve as harbingers of fail. Not so though for this amazing live-action “gritty reboot” of popular comic strip, Calvin and Hobbes. No, this one is all win.
