There have been a couple of Tony Scott tribute videos out since the unfortunate suicide of the Top Gun and Crimson Tide director a couple weeks ago. Well the guys over at JoBlo, have now decides to put together their own, and it really is one of the best released thus far. They added this message along with the video, appropriately titled You’re So Cool – A Tribute to Tony Scott:
“For over 30 years Tony has blazed a path of incredible film-making which is why I on behalf of JoBlo.com wanted to create this special video dedication in his honor. We wish all the best to his friends and family and also to every fan around the world. You’re so cool Tony, you’re so cool.”
Bond girl Rosamund Pike and Academy Award winner Christopher Plummer will joining Simon Pegg on his quest for personal serenity. Hector and the Search for Happiness will see Pegg as the titular Hector, an eccentric psychiatrist who can’t help his patients, who decides to pack and set on a global journey for peace, love and all those other hippie stuff. Pike will play his longtime girlfriend, whereas Plummer will play the head of the Happiness Center at the UCLA.
First there was Act of Valor The Movie, then we got Act of Valor The Album and now it’s Act of Valor the TV Series! (Yogurt would be so proud. MERCHANDISING!) The Bandito Brothers – who’s name sound like something straight out of a Robert Rodriguez movie – will be adapting their hit Navy SEALs flag waving recruitment video action thriller for the FX Network.
i09 is busy looking at Weird Secrets of the Avengers That You Would Never Have Guessed. What kind of secrets? Well that would be telling, now wouldn’t it.
So the MTV Video Music Awards happened last night, but since we’re already past puberty we didn’t watch them. Sorry. The biggest news out of the event anyways, was this new and last trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
Now I don’t know if it’s just my un-Twihard eye, but this looks pretty much the same as the previous one. And the one before that. Actually, come to think of it, there’s very little outside of the same few scenes shown in all the trailers. Either Summit is pulling a JJ Abrams or something else is going on here.
Ex-Batman Micheal Keaton seems to be clawing his way back from what was looking like a career in obscurity and CSI. He’s recently landed the role of the main villain in Robocop, and now he’s taking on a new directorial effort in Buttercup, a dramedy about a lady who has to accept custody of her elderly father after he is caught drunk driving again. Jennifer Aniston and Alan Arkin were once attached to star, but they’ve since moved on and casting is now under way.
Gnomeo and Juliet may not have made as big a splash as some of the efforts from some of the bigger animation houses, but it was a rather enjoyable little Shakespearean romp. With cartoon gnomes. And music by Elton John. Well, a sequel is on the way, directed by Kung-Fu Panda helmer John Stevenson. This time the Gnomes enlist the service of a famous detective to track down gnomes who have gone missing all over England. That’s right, it’s Sherlock Gnomes!
Ah, those pesky poltergeist kids. Always leaving messes on the walls, those scamps. Just take a look at this new poster for Ethan Hawke’s horror film, Sinister, (which will be given away at special screenings) to see what those rapscallions have done now again.
WhatCulture is busy casting their dream Metal Gear Solid movie. Feel free to drop by to “Ooh” and “Aah” at their very ambitious but rather appropriate choices.
The first couple reviews for Rian Johnson’s Bruce Willis is Joseph Gordon-Levitt time travel flick, Looper, are in and they are looking amazing, with some calling this “the best science fiction movie of the year” and even “the best time travel movie since Twelve Monkeys“. Oh, be still my film geek heart!
Collider have managed to get a leak of they claim to be the first look at The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘s Goblin King.
Speaking of Hobbits, here’s a new still image from the film, courtesy of EW, that shows Bilbo himself, Martin Freeman, pretending to be an airplane dive-bombing a pig. Or something.
It’s confirmed. Michael “Magneto-Creep-Robot-Tri-Pod” Fassbender will be helping Natalie Portman shoot up some bandits. The Irish-German actor will be joining director Lynne Ramsey’s western as the ex-lover of Portman’s titular character, who needs to defend her wounded and left for dead bandit husband when his old gang show up to finish the job.
Chris Evans will be taking time out of his busy schedule of saving the world while dressed in the American flag to woo Michelle Monaghan in new “anti-romantic comedy” A Many Splintered Thing. “Anti-Romantic?”, I hear you say. Well apparently that’s the new buzz term given to films like 500 Days of Summer which take a less fantastical approach to rom-coms. So then why does the plot synopsis of a guy who pretends to be platonic with an engaged girl, just so that he can get close to her, sound exactly like about 50 other pro-romantic comedies?
The Exorcism of Emily Rose screenwriter Paul Boardman has been brought on board by Maven Pictures to adapt popular author James Patterson’s novel Guilty Wives. And no, this is not the sequel to Desperate Housewives. That show got cancelled. Deal with it and move on with your life, Darryn. Here’s what the book is actually about:

I know we’ve already had some Twilight news today, and for some of you a double helping of Bella Stone Face may just be too much for you to handle, but trust me you”re going to want to see this. The geniuses over at Bad Lip Reading have put together this beauty, which makes me want to watch all of the Twilight films with no dialogue, except what I make up in my imagination.
