Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

The Amazing Spider-Man is busy filming away, shooting all kinds of spidery shenanigans and whatnot. So where exactly is it shooting, and for how much longer? According to The Wall Street Journal, New York and 151 days, to be exact. Here’s a more detailed quote, for those of you who are busy studying land surveying or something at varsity:

The production sprawls over about 300,000 square feet at four facilities in Long Island and Brooklyn.

The movie began shooting Feb. 1 and will take 151 days to shoot, but just a few dozen will take place on locations in the city and upstate. They will spend one day filming in the real Times Square, but 50 to 65 days shooting on Long Island.

The film is being shot at Marcy Armory in Brooklyn, as well as at Long Island’s Gold Coast Studios and Grumman Studios, both in Bethpage.

The set hints at life beyond high school, including a Columbia University dormitory room that appears to be outfitted for female freshman, with sparkly sneakers and film-noir posters.

To recreate the effect of Times Square’s flashing lights, the producers brought in 16 cranes with lights and green screens. But at least one of the film’s 40 sets thrusts back to an earlier time. The subway station the crew constructed in about six weeks features skylights and Art Deco columns that most closely resembled a station under City Hall that closed in 1945.

Spider-man will go to Rochester to film a chase scene because speed laws upstate aren’t as restrictive as New York City’s.

I’ve heard talk about a Jurassic Park re-release in 3D, good sir, but where are the TV spots to herald the arrival of that iconic film? Why, they’re right over…there! BADANDANDAN DADADADAAAN DA DA!

Must go faster! The Kervynsaur Rex is larger than he appears!

Believe it or not, but I actually enjoyed 50 First Dates. While the ending is incredibly terrifying when you think about it, it was still a great feel good movie with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. And it looks like the two are reuniting for the still needs a name romantic comedy that Frank Coraci will be directing.

Seeing as how Drew Barrymore had daily amnesia in the last film, I’m guessing that in this movie, she’ll be in a coma. It’s a scientifically proven defense mechanism against Adam-Sandlerism. Ask any doctor, and they’ll confirm this.

Man, I love me some movie posters, and no one on the planet has a better collection of tribute-worthy sheets than Mondo. Here’s a look at their latest poster from artist Martin Ansin, for Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. “You lookin’ at my kickass poster? Huh?”

Eighteen months ago saw the release of Tintin on the big screen. Bold, brave and absolutely amazing in the visual department, it was a fantastic film overall. So when is the next bloody film arriving? Steven Spielberg had his fun, not it’s time for Peter Jackson to start work on a sequel, so we can finally find the treasure of Red Rackham.

Speaking to The Times of India, Spielberg said that filming should commence “soon”:

Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I’m producing. We have a script and we’re going to start performance capture probably at the end of this year… Don’t hold me to it, but we’re hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015. We know which books we’re making, we can’t share that now but we’re combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Herge.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

You thought that seeing Jack Nicholson in a more deceptive trailer for The Shining yesterday was scary? Well, wait until you see what happens when Jack meets the cast of Dumb and Dumber in this brilliant movie crossover.

Good times! Any time you meet a payment! Good Times!  Any time you need a friend! Good Times! Any time you’re out from under!  If those lyrics ring a bell, then you most likely wear a purple shirt, a bad hat and regularly shout out DY-NO-MITE at the worst possible time.

Classic sitcom Good Times is looking to make a comeback. Scott ” No Country For Old Men” Rudin is prepared to produce, while Wreck-It Ralph writer Phil Johnston is on scribing duties. They’re not updating the show for the big screen, believe it or not, and will in fact roll the clock back a decade, to the most pointless time in human history: The sixties.

What if super-famous Studio ghibli decided to allow Pixar to 3D some of their 2D characters? I’d be absolutely terrified, that’s what.

 Yesterday, we heard that Sherlock stars Benedict Cumbermatch and Martin Freeman had just enough time in their schedule to hop back to London to film some new episodes of the hit BBC mini-series, Sherlock. And according to Sherlock Holmes himself, we might even see a fourth season of the scarfed sleuth. Speaking to RadioTimes, Cumberbatch said;

We’ve agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that. All I know at the moment is I’m doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three.

Make it so Mr Cumbermatch, make it so.

And we’re ending the day off with some good old-fashioned comedy cartoon capers, starring none other than Mickey “F%#$$^ng” Mouse himself. And Minnie. Whose underwear is totally visible, the naughty girl. It’s called Croissant de Triomphe, and stars Mickey in a madcap dash across Paris to stuff Minnie Mouse with Croissants. No, that wasn’t innuendo! Get your mind out of the gutter!
