Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

This weekend past saw the annual Goodwood Revival taking place. Alas, this had nothing to do with resurrecting the ol’ Goodwood Drive-In (really giving away my age here) in Cape Town. If you don’t know what the Goodwood Revival is, then allow Ron Burgundy to fill you in.

Want to see Lizzy Caplan naked? Then this is the link for you! Showtime has uploaded the entire pilot episode for their new drama series Masters of Sex for your viewing pleasure. The show follows Caplan and Martin Sheen as Virginia Johnson and Dr William Masters, real life researchers who drew major controversy when they initiated a very, very thorough into the science of sex and sexual behaviour in the conservative 1950’s.

Due to the explicit nature of the show (the very reason some of you will actually be checking it out, I’m sure), there’s no embed option for the Youtube vid.

The production on James Wan’s Fast and Furious 7 has just kicked off. We know this because Vin Diesel let us know when he told his fans on Facebook that “Seven… Has begun…” and posted this first official set pic showing him and Paul Walker standing around. With no cars. Looking like somebody just farted.

Speaking of Fast and Furious, now that FF6 has finally brought the franchise full circle to match up timelines with 2006’s Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, it has opend the way for the star of that film, Lucas Black, to return. Black has signed a multi-picture deal that will see him reprising his role of Sean Boswell – an American who gets sent to live with his estranged father in Tokyo, where he gets taught the art of drifting and stealing Japanese gangster’s girlfriends by Sung Kang’s Han – in the following three films: Fast and Furious 7, 8 & 9.

Ladies, you want to be a movie star? Find a music video for really catchy song, and then dance around in it topless. Just ask Emily Ratajkowski, the brunette showing off her wares in the vid for Robin Thicke’s chart topping hit “Blurred Lines”. The model/actress has transformed her online popularity into Hollywood success by landing her first major acting gig, and it’s a biggie. She’ll be starring opposite Ben Affleck in director David Fincher’s Gone Girl, which will see Affleck as Nick Dunne whose wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) goes missing on their fifth wedding anniversary, and Nick gets implicated in her disappearance. Ratajkowski will play “Andie, a beautiful college student who Nick has an affair with before she bands together with Amy’s parents to incriminate him in her disappearance.”

And here you thought she was such a nice girl?

I bailed on CW’s Arrow about 5 episodes in, but judging by these new Season 2 character posters, I should have stuck around much longer so that I could hear all about the Case of the Mysteriously Disappearing ShirtsClearly, this was quite the spree and no man is safe.

While Conan may have been Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first major break, it was James Cameron’s Terminator that really made him a star. And now according to rumour, Arnie… will be back (yuk yuk!) to work with Cameron again. According to Latino Reviews’ source, Arnie will be playing the main villain in Cameron Avatar 2, a role described as a “bad guy human general”.

Every time the pair have teamed up – Terminator 1, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and True Lies – they’ve produced magic, so I would seriously be in favour of watching Arnie terminate some giant cat/Smurf hybrids.

Ben Affleck has seriously turned his career around in the last couple of years, but with just a single casting announcement revealing him as Batman, he went from Oscar winning filmmaker back to being the guy that starred in the much maligned Daredevil. Fickle internet is fickle, yo! Inspired by this, the folks at Cinema Sins have decided to tackle this movie for their regular series, so here’s Everything Wrong with Daredevil in 8 Minutes or Less.

For the record, 1) that video is extremely nitpicky in places, and 2) more people really need to watch the far superior Daredevil: Director’s Cut.

If you’re a fan of AMC’s record breaking adaptation of The Walking Dead then get ready for more… well, Walking Dead. The network has announced that it will be producing a spinoff series, which focuses on an entirely new set of characters that have never before been featured in either the original award winning comics or recent videogames. The Walking Dead‘s creator and executive producer on the TV series, Robert Kirkman, had this to say about the announcement.

“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

Speaking of Walking Dead, Laura Holden – who plays Andrea, everybody’s favourite character who they’d love to hit with a half-brick repeatedly until the stupid flows out of her ears in the show – has landed one of the major roles in upcoming comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber ToHolden has been cast as the villainous Adele Pichlow,” the well to do wife of a doctor who is up to no good and who plans to use Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) to cover her tracks.”

Despite the fact that we’ll be seeing a new Batman in a couple of years, there are plenty of people who still won’t give up the idea of a sequel to Chris Nolan’s Bat-trilogy. Unfortunately, that just ain’t happening. Ever. So that leaves it up to people like the creators of Dark Knight Legacy, who clearly have plenty of time on their hands. Luckily they also happen to have some talent. Taking place 1 year after the events of The Dark Knight Rises, the film sees Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character John Blake, after he’s taken up the mantle of Nightwing (no, not Batman) going up against the masked vigilante known as Red Hood.

Director Brett Register and writers Woody Tondorf and Chris Landa, hope to eventually turn the 7-minute short film into full webseries, and have started a campaign on Indiegogo to raise $33,000 to make it happen. So if you like what you see and want to see more, go give ’em your Randelas.

Why is Vin Diesel so adamant to continue doing Fast and Furious? Does he not want to, maybe, I dunno, try something else?
The best actor around he may not be, but sjoe, I feel he’s wasting himself a bit on this.
As to Arnie and Cameron working together again? Please please please and please. The Last Stand wasn’t all that bad, and I am looking forward to the Stallone/Arnie team up (sorry, forgot the flick’s title) But Arnie is at his best under the direction of Cameron…

I watched Masters of Sex on Monday night – thought it was pretty good, but yes… explicit.

I’m also torn about my opinion of Kervyn now, he’s bailed on Arrow, but likes Daredevil DC… decisions decisions :/
