Looks like we’re up to our bloodshot eyeballs in angry Canadians today. Early this morning, I posted a highly enlightening interview with The Wolverine director James Mangold, and now we get the first clip from the film, showing off an extended look at the film’s train fight sequence.

Silly Wolverine. People are supposed to travel inside the train.

If you’re lucky enough to go to San Diego Comic Con this year, please know that that’s already enough reason to hate you. But now it looks like my cup will be overflowing with hater-ade for you, as its been announced that Metallica will be there as well. The rock gods will host a panel in Hall H in along with directot Nimrod Antal and star Dane DeHaan in support of their upcoming 3D feature film, Metallica Through The Never, before the band plays a secret gig somewhere in San Diego.

You have been chosen… to stand around and look pretty/vacant/pretty vacant on this final poster for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Den of Geek apparently has a “solid source” that’s spilled the deets on the villainous roles for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. There’s been no other confirmation about this, so treat it fully as rumour for now, but apparently Benicio Del Toro will be playing The Collector, Lee Pace will Ronan the Accuser and Karen Gillan will be Nebula. And if none of those names means a damn thing to you, then I suggest you hit that link for some character descriptions.

You folks know that guy? You know, that guy. The one who always plays the villains. The one who – Oh never mind. Just check out Indiewire’s article on 15 Character Actor Villains You Love To Hate and you’ll know who I’m talking about.

The first poster for Spike Lee’s Oldboy – the English language remake of Park Chan-Wook’s Korean classic – has been revealed and it’s… well, it certainly is interesting. Looking like the final act of a David Copperfield magic trick, it certainly is eye-catching, especially since this is apparently a shot straight from the film and not the work of some production assistant who just discovered the magic lasso tool in Photoshop last week.

I certainly hope that Josh Brolin enjoyed his trip in Narnia.

I don’t think I can put this any better than Pajiba’s original headline, so I’ll just copy it: Somebody Has Finally Found A Way To Kill Your Lady Boner For Colin Firth.

Now that the Man of Steel‘s Kryptonian milkshake has brought all the fanboys to the yard, Warner Bros finally have a good base to build their own cohesive universe on, much like Marvel did. But where does that leave the other DC Comics projects already in development, like Guillermo Del Toro’s supernatural themed Justice League Dark? “The Bull” says he’s all up for this whole playing in the same universe thing.

“I think the great thing about the ‘Dark Universe,’ you have this possibility of basically creating a supernatural group, and you can play by different rules, but I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel film universe. So if there’s any correlation, I will honor it.”

And while he’s all happy to play with some of DC’s toys, it doesn’t look he’ll be playing with any of Marvel’s anytime soon, specifically those of the smashing variety, as it seems that his long in development Hulk TV series has just completely fizzled out now that Marvel and ABC are all about The Avengers and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“I have no idea, I literally just stopped hearing from them after the movie opened. I would call to see what’s going on, [and] they said ‘We’re looking for this,’ or ‘We’re waiting for that,’ and it kind of just faded away.”

Looks like the marketing campaign for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla has taken a very destructive turn. Luckily for inhabitants of San Diego, not literally though, as a number of buildings have been covered in these faux Godzilla talon slash marks. This is all apparently leading up to some massive reveal at Comic Con in two weeks time.

The review embargo on Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s final installment in their Cornetto Trilogy, The World’s End, has finally lifted and Slashfilm has done a nice roundup on all the reviews. And the word on the street is that it’s much darker and a bit less comically goofy than the previous two efforts, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but that it’s a damn good end to it all. Here’s a very succinct quote from Total Film:

“Like that nugget of pure chocolate you get at the bottom of the cornet, this is a fittingly satisfying end to the Cornetto trilogy.”

This makes me so happy I’m going out right now to get ice-cream and throw LP’s at a zombie…

 … As soon as I get done watching this diabolically dark trailer for a Seinfeld movie. Yes, I said “diabolically dark” and “Seinfeld” in the same sentence.
