Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

We kick off today with a new poster for Simon Pegg’s A Fantastic Fear of Everything, because nothing gets your attention quite like a screaming, knife wielding ginger, dressed in nothing but a yellow cardigan and underpants.

FilmSchoolRejects take a look at What Life May Be Like When Texting Is Allowed In Movie Theatres. Strangely enough, their vision of the future does not end in a giant fireball of death for everybody who thinks that it’s a good idea. Bummer.

You know, I have no idea why Val Kilmer keeps picking roles that require him to wear glasses, because clearly he just wants to get them the frak off his face.

Warner Bros has bought the rights to a new high-concept film originally set to be developed by internet company BreakMedia, best known for Break.com, home of funny pics and videos of either cats, topless drunk coeds, or topless drunk coeds with cats. Wait, before you get distracted by that mental image… according to the report from Deadline this film is said to be about “a rapidly evolving species of dinosaurs who attack modern Los Angeles” and will be directed by long-time James Cameron collaborator John Clisham from a script by Mike Bayman.

Dear amazing Darth Maul statue, I want… nay, NEED you on my shelf right now. Now.

According to IMDB, a devastating fire recently broke out in Tyler “I’m like Robin Williams, only black and not funny” Perry’s personal film studios, requiring more than 100 firefighters to put out the blaze. I swear, Darryn and I have an iron clad alibi, and that is definitely not the recipe for napalm that I downloaded off the internet.

Thanks to those ever-industrious guys over on Reddit, we now know that contrary to what my mommy, daddy and therapist tell me, Hogwarts actually exists in real life.

According to Vin Diesel, now that production on his and writer/director David Twohy’s Riddick has wrapped, things are looking good for the other two sequels. Exsqueeze me? Baking Soda? What other two sequels?

Your guess is as good as mine, as this has come so completely out of the left field that it stopped to vote Democrat along the way. But thanks to this cryptic update that the bald-headed bruiser made about Riddick’s release date on the film’s Facebook page, we at least know the titles:

“The studio said the earliest they could release the new “Riddick” is in January… was hoping for 2012… but, it’s on the horizon.

/smile

P.s. I think they are liking what they are seeing… haha, cause they asked when both Underverse and Furya would be ready to make and release… haha… now that’s a ways in the future but it is exciting.”

Underverse is of course the after-life paradise that the Necromongers (introduced in Chronicles of Riddick) believe in, while Furya was Riddick’s home planet, now barren due to a brutal, devastating war fought by it’s inhabitants with those very same Necromongers.

Slashfilm reports that the “award winning, controversial” Japanese film, Love Exposure, is finally being released to the international market via Blu Ray. The 4-hour long, 2009 festival favourite movie tells the tale of… Well, I’ll rather let the trailer speak for itself:

Only in Japan can you make a love story about a guy who uses martial arts moves to take pervy upskirt pics of girls. What do they put in the water over there? You know, besides nuclear fallout. (Too soon?)

Director John Chu really wants you to give G.I. Joe: Retaliation a chance. Pretty please, with sprinkles on top.

Know what helps to give your doubters confidence in your action movie, when you’re not exactly known for being an action hero? Getting James Bond to join you. The UKPA is reporting that Pierce Brosnan is now set to join Owen Wilson in his upcoming action thriller, The Coup.

And it’s come to my attention that it’s been far too long (probably only a week, tops) that I’ve given you guys a new short film. So here’s one that is very NSFW (for strong language) but just so happens to be hilarious, as well as having one of the greatest titles ever: The Big Boobie Heist!

And so on that note, we come to the end of today’s Extras. You know, looking at that Val Kilmer clip again, I think he should totally star in the next CSI spinoff. I’m sure it would be… Val done. YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHH!

Aw crap, sorry about that. But there’s a completely logical explanation for that mishap: boobs.

Yes, it is way too soon to be making fun of 15,000 people dying, sorry but that was pretty unnecessary.  You could at least wait until the debris from the earthquake finishes washing up on the West Coast of America and Canada.  Pretty poor taste there, my friend.

To be fair the people the nuclear fallout wasn’t responsible for even 0.5% of those deaths so I don’t think it’s too soon for jokes about that part.

That’s about as straight-forward and honest as a politician Gavin, because certainly, those reactors all failed due to normal age and wear, right?  Of course they did!

*rolls eyes* He asked, I answered, had he not, I wouldn’t have even responded.

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Mr Darth Maul is looking very masculine up there?
