Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

The December 4th Blu-Ray release date for The Dark Knight Rises is rapidly approaching, and the first bit of marketing push has begun with this new 90 second sizzle reel that highlights some of the more memorable moments from Christopher Nolan’s Bat trilogy finale.

It may not have hit our shores yet, but writer/director Scott Derrickson’s Sinister has already been scaring up a storm overseas, and now it looks like Derrickson has found his next project to brown up your trousers with. He will be teaming up with Blumhouse Pictures (the same guys behind the Paranormal Activity series) to adapt The Breathing Method, a short story found in Stephen King’s Different Seasons collection

Director Robert Zemeckis, King of the Uncanny Valley, has given the slightest of updates about a possible Roger Rabbit sequel, while at the premiere of Flight, his new alcoholic drama with Denzel Washington.

“I have a script at Disney, and we’re just waiting for all the executive changes to settle down there.”

Zemeckis has been talking about a sequel for ages now, and combined with the fact that actor Bob Hoskins recently announced his retirement from acting due to being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, means that I wouldn’t quite hold my breath on this one.

Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers has bucked the latest bit of delays, and will actually me moving up on the schedule. The animated foodie sequel has moved from February 7th, 2014 to September 27th, 2013.

Here’s a new clip for Skyfall which has Daniel Craig’s Bond and Javier Bardiem’s maniacal Silva go head to head. Just a warning though: if you don’t want one of the film’s main action beats spoiled for you, then you might just want to give this one a miss.

Keeps your kids away from the TV, people! Rise of the Guardians writer and prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire has made the surprising revelation to ShockTillYouDrop that for his next project he will be penning the Poltergeist remake. Apparently producer Sam Raimi asked him to come on board, after the pair had met when Raimi was considering adapting Lindsay-Abaire’s play, The Rabbit Hole. The writer has revealed that he’s tossing out all the other possible scripts and will be starting from scratch.

It was recently revealed that Snow White and the Hunstman director (and Robert Pattinson fans’ public enemy #1) Rupert Sanders’ next project would be the Van Helsing reboot with Tom Cruise. However, an intergalactic spanner may just have been thrown in the works, as The Playlist is reporting that the director will instead be tackling the romantic sci-fi tale The Juliet next. The film, an adaptation of a short story by Alfred Bester, will be set in the future and has been described as  “Bonnie and Clyde in space”.

Sistas are doing it for themselves! It’s been announced that funny ladies and fellow SNL alums Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will be teaming up to host the next Golden Globes. Expect jokes about breasts=globes in 3,2,1….

Remember those missing scenes from The Amazing Spider-Man that I made all that brouhaha about after the movie’s promises of telling an “untold story” turned out to be hokum? Well, some of them have appeared online, and it backs up my claim that Peter Parker was originally supposed to have a different origin, involving his father who have used him for experimentation.

The longest of the scenes offers the most exposition and also reveals what happened to Irrfan Khan, whose character, Rajit Bartha, mysteriously did a disappearing act in the film after being attacked on the bridge by the Lizard.

Spartacus star and soon to be McClane Jr., Jai Courtney, will be joining Joel Edgerton and Tom Wilson next for the cop drama Felony. The story revolves “a decorated cop (Edgerton) who runs a cyclist off the road after drinking with his buddies to celebrate a major gang bust.” He lies about the event, starting a ripple effect of chaos among all involved. Courtney will be playing the rookie detective, who doesn’t believe the story and is trying to get to the bottom of what really happened.

How’s this for a delay: James Wan’s (SAW, Insidious) next horror-shocker The Conjuring has been pushed back because it’s so good. The film has apparently been getting such amazing feedback at test screenings, that New Line will be pushing it back to the more prime-time slot of mid-July next year.

Wan also revealed that not only was he open to for another Insidious movie, but that he wouldn’t allow the franchise milking as what took place with SAW.

“I think the sequel to ‘Insidious’ is kind of my reaction to Saw where for my own reason I wasn’t as involved in the sequels, and so I felt with Insidious, think it would be good to shepherd it and keep it more in track to the version I had when I made the first film so that it doesn’t detour too far. So yeah, I’m kind of working with Leigh on the story and the script.”

“I never set out to make sequels to any of my films I direct. If they happen, that’s great because that means people out there love it and they want more of it, but I always felt with Insidious we created this really interesting world that we can explore more, and so even though we didn’t set out to make a sequel, I felt that there are stories still out there that could be told.”

People who talk on their cellphones in the cinema deserve to be sent to a special portion of hell populated by nothing but super persistent telemarketers. Apparently Alfred Hitchcock (or at least Sir Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock) agrees.

Apologies for the poor quality of the clip.

A new Roger Rabbit would indeed be very cool. I watched the original again this weekend – even today it is a technical and comedy marvel, not to mention the only time WB and Disney held hands.
