We hear about remakes of classic movies all the time, because if there’s one thing that’s true about Hollywood, it’s that nothing is sacred. And judging from this trailer for Creep Creepersin’s (really) remake of Bela Lugosi’s 1932 horror movie, White Zombie, the other thing that’s true about Hollywood is that not everybody there actually has talent.
Despite the fact that both of Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy films made sweet, sweet love to my eyeballs with their amazing visuals, there was always something a little lacking in them story wise. That being said, I’d certainly be up for another. And apparently so would star Ron Perlman.
“[Del Toro and I] both walked away from ‘Hellboy 2’ agreeing that there would never be another one. But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy. [Guillermo] has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it’s amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies.”
“I said [to Guillermo], ‘You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy. I’ve been giving him Jewish guilt.”
Here’s the first poster for Drift, which is actually not a Fast & Furious spinoff but rather a new Australian surfing drama starring Sam Worthington.
Good news, fellas. You don’t have to worry about being dragged to another Bridget Jones movie. Well, at least not for a while, according to actor Colin Firth.
“Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a long wait. I wouldn’t say that it’s completely dead in the water, but the way it’s going you might be seeing Bridget Jones’ granddaughter’s story being told by the time we get there. … There is a joy of doing those movies that keeps hope alive. And the story is going in an interesting direction. I just wouldn’t say that the movie is imminent.”
Now if they were to make a movie of nothing but Firth and Hugh Grant “fighting” then I’d be all over that.
While spilling the ooze-covered beans to Moviefone about Ninja Turtles earlier this morning, Michael Bay also spoke about Transformers 4. Seems like now that he’s no longer pissing off die-hard Turtles fans, he’s going to focus his upsetting skills on Transforrmers fans.
“You know there are a couple of historians of Transformers. I would do my designs of the robots and they’re like, ‘What if you just add a little bit more ears to Optimus?’ But they’re really hands off. We’ve redesigned them in ‘Transformers 4,’ and there’s some really cool s-t in it. I’m literally redesigning every character, top to bottom. There’s a reason why they’re redesigned, but it’s also to keep it new and fresh to me. I think the fans will appreciate some of this new stuff we have in the movie and some of the new characters.”
We do all remember that the last time Bay designed Transformers, we ended up with a couple of racist stereotype robots, right?

With Tom Cruise’s Oblivion releasing recently, I think it’s safe to say that we’re in the early parts of the mid-year blockbuster season (Yes, I know it’s not even May yet, but we live in a world where shops start putting up Easter decorations in January, so what did you expect?). So with that in mind, check out this really cool and rather well choreographed musical montage for the 2013 blockbusters.
And because I just know that somebody’s going to ask, the song is Fall Out Boy’s “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark”.
Movie trivia time! Did you know that before landing the role of Lois Lane in Man of Steel, Amy Adams actually auditioned for the role twice before in two separate Superman productions that never materialized. You’d think she would take a hint, but apparently Adams has a special connection with the character.
“I have always identified with Lois. She is suited to my personality. When she came up for the third time, I was like, ‘Okay, this is ridiculous. I have to play Lois’. I know other people have played the role, and others will play the role after me, but this was me putting my stamp on it.”
That stamp is apparently to make her a an “independent, feisty woman… but set in a more identifiable world” and not the damsel in distress that original Lois, Margot Kidder, was.
“I loved that version, but we have moved on. She has become more a free ranging journalist, someone who likes to be hands on. The nature of the newspaper business has changed so much. There is so much more pressure.”
In case you didn’t know, TheMovies is actually the sister site of LazyGamer.net. In other words, we love games as much we love movies. And when those two worlds’ collide, we… Well, actually most of the time when “games’ and “movies” come together it leaves us cursing like a sailor with Tourrettes’, but that’s why this bit of news is slightly more promising.
Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur (Contraband, 2 Guns, Everest) is apparently a bit of a gamer himself, with his preferred digitial poison being sci-fi MMORPG, “EVE Online”. And Kormakur is such a huge fan that he is apparently developing a TV series based in the world of EVE, described as “an original concept set 20,000 in the future within the interstellar EVE Online universe in which rival societies are trapped in the same space by a collapsed wormhole and characters from five warring factions battle it out in space ships.” Most interesting though, is the claim that the series will take it’s inspiritation from user posted stories on the EVE Online forums.
