Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

We seem to be just picking where we left off yesterday, as we kick off today’s Extras with more LEGO/2001: A Space Odyssey goodness. This time around though it’s not the crazy year-long obsession of a man with clearly too much time on his hands, but it’s nonetheless still pretty impressive:

The Raid director Gareth Evans reveals via his Twitter account why the acclaimed martial-arts action film will not be released in 3D:

Thanks to Michael Bay’s proposed extraterrestrial changes to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it was only a matter of time before somebody took his idea and extrapolated on it:

Complex has a look at the 10 Hottest Supermodel Cameos in Film. I have no idea why you’re still reading this text. Click the link!

In the total opposite end of the spectrum, but still kicking it for the fellas, here’s easily the manliest picture you will see on the internet today. Just by looking at this picture my voice has already dropped a few octaves, and look! Spontaneous beard growth! Grrrr, toss some salt and pepper on a cow, and I’ll bite it on the ass!

Once again following on from yesterday’s Extras, here’s a look at director Chris Nolan’s very first short film, Doodlebug. It’s a bit more artier than most of his later work, but you can already see some of his signature shots and noir stylings coming though. Also, I’m pretty sure I’ve had this nightmare before. Damn it Nolan, you were in my dreams back then already, weren’t ya?

There’s already been a couple of images for Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein but they’ve mostly been “of the set” rather than “on-set”. Bu now we get our first real look at leading man Aaron Eckhart in full makeup as the titular monster, Adam.

Judging by Eckhart’s appearance in this and his last comic book film, it appears that he has a bit of scarification fetish. But it’s OK, Aaron, we won’t judge.

Adapted from Underworld creator Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel, I, Frankenstein tells the modern day tale of the legendary monster who has somehow survived the centuries to current times due to a quirk in his patchwork genetic makeup. Now the misunderstood creature finds himself caught up in a Gothic metropolis where two immortal clans are engaged in a centuries old war. (That last part totally doesn’t sound like Underworld, right?)

The film also stars Yvonne Strahovski and Socratis Otto. The latter of which may just have the greatest name I have ever heard.

Yesterday we showed you what might have been the new poster for Amazing Spider-Man. Luckily (because it was so bad it might have made me leap from a New York skyscraper), it turned out to be nothing but the work of a fan with too much time but nowhere near enough talent on his hands.

But thanks to the guys at Sony, the real new posters got revealed today though. And no, that’s not a typo. It is indeed posters, plural.

Speaking of posters there’s a new one out for Sundance and SXSW Film Festivals darling, Safety Not Guaranteed. The poster makes use of the real-life  (Yes, real life!) newspaper classified ad turned internet meme that the fictional characters in the film set out to investigate.

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now, as it’s been described as immensely witty and charming, with many a review accusing it of good ol’ cardiac thievery.

Cracked has just totally put a damper on all the crazy ballet of death action sequences that play out in my head every hour or so by dispelling 6 Stupid Gun Myths That Everyone Believes Thanks To Movies. Dammit Cracked! Now I can no longer turn people into bolognaise with my sparky bullets from my gun made from bathroom floor tiles.

We end off today with a short film that employs marvellous stop-motion wizardry to tell a tale that is quite literally light-hearted.  Juan Pablo Zaramella‘s Luminaris is whimsical, charming and even mixes in some good old fashioned romance to tell the fantastical tale of a young light-bulb maker who just wants to… Well, I don’t want to spoil it, so rather watch it yourself and experience a tiny slice of film-making magic.

And that’s it for today. Now if you would excuse me, I’m scheduled for my next violent daydream any second now. Unfortunately, thanks to Cracked, this one will probably be filled with such boring things as “physics” and “logic” and “bodies that don’t explode into red mist when you just touch them.”

Yawn.
