Wildly popular Facebook game Farmville is indeed wildly popular. Picture one middle aged woman. Now multiply her by thirty. Now imagine that group of thirty middle aged women, and arbitrarily multiply that by one million. That’s how many people play FarmVille every single day – and it’s just a fraction of the number of registered FarmVille Users.
According to data from AllFacebook and Appdata, a full fifth of Facebook users are rearing digital cattle and harvesting virtual crops. 80 of its 400 million users are addicted to the digital click-fest crack.
I know perfectly sane, smart people who’ve become slaves to FarmVille, which just makes me liken it to crystal meth or crack cocaine even more.
As far as I’m concerned, Farmville is nothing more than a means to spam other people’s Facebook accounts – and because of that alone I refuse to play it. As far as the actual game goes, it strikes me very much as a Sim Farm/Harvest Moon hybrid with a little Animal Crossing thrown in for good measure. Which is another reason for me to not play it. Ever.
Do Any of you play FarmVille? Could you enlighten me as to just what’s so gosh-darned fun about it that 1.2% of the entire world’s population plays it regularly?

Never played it myself, but my 60-year old mother just came down to visit from America and she had barely even put her luggage down before asking if she could use my internet to play farmville.

Plant a lot of white grapes because they give you 3XP for each one you plant and a decent amount of coins when you harvest them.
