Holy crap batman! EA has just made an announcement of orgasmic proportions (well, to me anyway).
Fifa 08 will allow you to go online with..wait for it…9 other people all playing in one single match. You team up with 4 buddies and play against another team of 5 humans. Each person controls one player with the rest being controlled by the computer.
Bad news is, this feature won’t be available right out the box but this functionality will be added through an online update.
Even better is that EA’s ultimate goal (no pun intended) is to have a 22 man (that’s unbelievable!) online match where each player on the field is controlled by a human player. The head honcho of Fifa 08 has promised that this will be a reality by 2010 in time for out World Cup (can’t wait for it!).
If this is implemented that’ll certainly sway me away from the PES series.

You were never even convinced by the Pro Evo franchise so there is no swaying to do 😀 . Though, I must admit, 5 vs. 5 is an awesome addition to the game but once they hit 11 vs. 11, I feel sorry for the monkey who gets to play keeper 😉 !

I am just scared out lovely bandwitdh will be the limiting factor in SA. Hopefully the online code will be well laid out and at least 5vs5 will be feasible in SA.
The other solution of course is system link at a LAN. 🙂

@Ruslan, SA is getting quite a boost for 2010 i.t.o bandwidth so hopefully the general public will get a cut of it. (keyword: hopefully)

lol… by 2010 we’ll be playing FIFA10 Bafana Bafana Edition with 26 people online! 22 players, 1 ref, 2 linesmen and the spare ref too! 😉

Hehe, no problem.
Bad news is that apparently its gonna be region specific, currently it’s the US and Europe so yeah, that SUCKS! Aussies are EA’s first victim, they’re only get vanilla 1 on 1 online play.
