VAMPIRE ACADEMY

I’ve got money riding on the next big genre to hit Hollywood being bible movies, as vampire films are eventually going to become about as popular as Gauteng highway tolls. That most likely won’t be anytime soon though, judging by the glut of content related to the neck-biters that is currently circulating around media.

And with young adults having easier access to their parents cash these days than SARS, that’s a market that is still ripe picking for Hollywood. It may be in a saturated market then, but at least Vampire Academy has some decent talent on board that can help it appeal to those tweens.

Based on the first book in author Richelle Mead’s successful series of “Vampire Academy” books. Rose Hathaway  is a Dhampir: half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.

It doesn’t look bad, but it doesn’t look exactly interesting either. The Twilight comparisons are going to be inevitable here, and of course there’s a love triangle or two along the way. Hopefully director Mark “Mean Girls” Waters can inject some more life into this undead flick, along with a little bit more humour from Daniel Waters script.

Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters will be chomping down on freshman necks on February 14, 2014.

Omg can’t wait for the movie! The whole cast look amazing! Just to be clear there is NO LOVE TRIANGLE in this series! It’s not like Twilight or The Vampire Diaries. Only similarities between these books is that there’s ‘vampire’ subject.
