When I first heard that Scott was returning to the Alien franchise I was so happy! Then I heard it was as a sequel to the rather bloody stupid Prometheus. I wasn’t sure how a director who had created absolute cinema magic with movies like Alien and Blade Runner – movies that tried to ground themselves in a reality where character motivations made sense – could create something so, well, stupid! Still the one thing it got right was how stunning it was. Now the first in-film-shot from his upcoming Alien: Covenant has hit twitter and it looks rather awesome. It also kinnda looks like a still taken from a video game, or is it just the meds I am on? Either way the above image was tweeted out yesterday:
That would be Katherine Waterston taking a break from running for her life I assume. This time round instead of searching for the engineers the plot revolves around colonists on the Covenant, a ship hearding sending colonists to what they think is an uninhabited planet. Guess again! They land and find our android friend David (Michael Fassbendaer) once again up to his old tricks and claims he is the lone survivor of the Prometheus mission. Tut tut. Another image that arrived a short while ago is of the ship’s patch, seen below:
Just seeing that ‘Weyland-Yutani’ name makes me want to cry. Please, don’t mess this one up!
Waterston will star alongside Demián Bichir, Jussie Smolett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride. Expect to either be really happy, or sorely disappointed on 4 August, 2017.

Weyland-Utopia? Are you sure it doesn’t say Weyland-Yutani?
The Weyland-Yutani Corporation, often shortened to Weyland-Yutani and commonly referred to as Wey-Yu or simply “The Company”, is a large British/Japanese multinational conglomerate. It was founded in 2099 by the merger of Weyland Corp and the Yutani Corporation
