You ever watch ice hockey? It’s actually a brilliant and tense sport, of agility and slapshots that makes for some great viewing. It’s also a great bloodsport, as the game regularly involves the use of enforcers on the ring to help even the odds with some good ol’ fisticuffs. And while there have been a ton of ice hockey movies over the years, from The Mighty Ducks through to Sudden Death (I get R1 for ever JCVD reference today), only Goon really captured the spirit of that sport and its deadliest member.

It’s easily one of Sean William Scott’s most underrated movies, as Goon portrayed him as a sweetheart with the fists of god. That first film dropped several years ago, but next year sees Doug Glatt return, along with Liev Schrieber as his infamous rival. Here’s the red band trailer for Goon 2: Last of the Enforcers, which features some naughty language and a copious amount of dry-humping on the ice which totally kills the fight mood:

After one too many concussions, hockey enforcer Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) is forced to give up his aspirations of going to the big show and settle into a buttoned down career as an insurance salesman at the urging of his pregnant wife Eva (Alison Pill). However, Doug can’t resist the siren call of the Highlanders, so he sets course to reclaim his former glory.

Also back for the sequel? Jay Baruchel, who’s pulling double duty as the director as well this time around. Speaking to SlashFilm, Baruchel spoke about how Goon 2 deals with the fact that enforcers are slowly going extinct in the ice hockey scene:

This is about an age that’s drawing to a close. It’s a role, the goon, that’s going out of fashion. It was the stuff of talking heads when we made the first movie, about whether or not these guys have a place and how much of a place they should have. This is even more so now. It’s timed out perfectly to what we wanted to say about Doug’s (Seann William Scott) career.

If we do our jobs telling the story right, then Doug is the prototype and represents a bygone era. He’s the last cowboy during The Depression, sort of thing. That’s the goal of the story we’re trying to tell.

Goon 2: Last of the Enforcers drops next year March. Also, stay the f*** away from my Percocets. Have you got any Percocets by the way?
