Fox has been given the green light to go ahead with the Lethal Weapon TV series reboot and have officially cast Damon Wayans Sr. as Roger Murtaugh, the role originated by Danny “I’m too old for this shit” Glover.

Based on the series of classic action films starring Mel Gibson and the aforementioned Glover, this new TV series adaptation will be going with this take:

When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.

The Lethal Weapon franchise has certainly been successful and has a huge fan base and I think Wayans would make a great Murtaugh. Matt Miller (Chuck, Forever), will executive produce, with Dan Lin (The Lego Movie) and Jennifer Gwartz also on board as executive producers. Miller reunites with McG who will be directing the pilot, having previously worked on NBC’s Chuck. So far there has been no names attached to the part of Riggs and there is no release date as yet.

Who do you think would make a good Riggs? Let us know in the comments.
