Frozen finally finds its song-writers

With no less than two Snow White films hitting our screens this year, and with Tangled proving to be a massive success, it seems that once again, fairy tales are all the rage.

Disney has basically covered every single fable ever made, from Snow White through to The Little Mermaid. One Hans Christian Andersen story that has been in the works for a decade now, is the tale of the frosty monarch herself, the Snow Queen.

And now, Disney has found it’s writers for the revived project.

Robert “Book of Mormon” Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez have been tapped to pen some catchy songs for the CGI project, which will star Kristen Bell. It’s currently aimed for a November 2013 release, and will also star Idina Menzel.

Disney issued the following press release today with some new info:

In “Frozen,” a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (voice of Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (voice of Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell.

Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

While the Lopez duo are more well known for their edgy work on the Tony Award winning musical, they also contributed several songs to the 2011 adaptation of  Winne the Pooh, as well as work on a stage version of Finding Nemo.
