It may be a Caped Crusader and Man of Steel movie, but Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justin Timberlake happens to have a few other capes making an appearance in that flick. Specifically, the sword and shield of one Amazonian heavyweight, Wonder Woman.

That’s a role which has pretty much laid dormant in the live-action space ever since Lynda Carter magically spun herself into an invisible jet. But now, Gal Gadot is the ass-kicking Themyscirian ambassador.

Speaking in Interview Magazine, Gadot explained how she wanted to make her Wonder Woman a strong an inspiring role model:

Before, I didn’t have the privilege to choose what I wanted to do. I just wanted to work. But now I’m in a position where I can actually choose. When I just started as an actress, you go to L.A. and the managers and the agency set up general meetings with directors and writers.

They always ask you the same questions: “What are you looking for? What types of movie would you like to do?” And I always said, “I’m open.” I’m very open to all different genres because I’m a very open-minded girl.

But eventually, I told them that I wanted to be able to show the stronger side of women. I didn’t want to do the obvious role that you see in Hollywood most of the time, which is the heartbroken girl who’s waiting to be rescued by the guy, blah, blah, blah. I wanted to do something different. Little did I know that I would land Wonder Woman not long after.

And naturally, Gadot is in it for the long run. Wonder Woman is the kind of character that has a ton of responsibility tied to her heritage:

Oh, my God, I’m so excited about this role. I feel like I’ve been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There’s a lot of responsibility.

But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It’s going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood.

I think Gadot looks visually fantastic in costume, as well as out of it in more civilian clothing. Time will tell however, if this role has any substance to it.

  1. Wasn’t too convinced about her Wonder Woman before, but it grew on me. And after seeing her in the trailer, pretty sure she will do a bang up job

When she was announced, I thought she’d suit the role. With the new trailer featuring some Wonder Woman shots, I still feel the same. Think she’ll do a great job as Wonder Woman.

I still wish it were cobie smulders, she’s the “mother” of all Amazonian women, but she’s of course tied to a small role in marvel, stupid shit
