As was proven emphatically at the box office this weekend past, lots of people love to watch stuff get destroyed in movies, even if said destruction only actually exists inside a computer’s memory and the film itself isn’t exactly what you would call good. If you fall into that category, then Into The Storm may also be a movie for you. As this first full trailer for the upcoming disaster flick shows, it boasts CG meteorological nightmares and a plot that seems to have been hastily assembled after somebody caught a rerun of Twister on eTV and said “Hey, lets make that! But like on steroids!”
Besides for flaming freaking tornadoes and a soap opera flimsiness to the visuals, the movie does also boast Richard Armitage, who was last seen battling some draconian flames as Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit, and Sarah Wayne Callies, winner of The Walking Dead Worst Mother of the Year During a Zombie Apocalypse Award for two years running.
In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot. Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, “Into the Storm” throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.
Into the Storm was directed by Stephen Quale (Final Destination 5), written by John Swetnam (Step Up All In) and also stars Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta and Max Deacon. It will be blowing in to theatres on August 8, 2014.

Perception is everything, dude. By simply changing the title to X-men Origins: Storm we’d all be super-hyped for this. 😉
