How you all feeling today? I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling lean, like a sex machine! While I keep telling myself that, check out the first trailer for the James Brown biopic, Get on up. AOOOW!
In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42’s Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get on Up. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.
Well that certainly feels good. Chadwick Boseman looks like he is in fine form as the godfather of soul, the music is popping and the directing looks slick. Expect this biopic to be a tad different as well as director Tate Taylor explained to USA Today that Get On Up would have Brown breaking the fourth wall and engaging with the audience. Besides that though, it looks like a regular biopic all the same. Origins, rise, fall and resurgence.
Get On Up gets funky in August, and also stars Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.
