Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City took one of the greatest series of comics of the last three decades and somehow managed to bring them to life on screen almost perfectly. Also, it taught us that Elijah Wood could be a right creepy bastard.

Now the duo are back with their sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and it doesn’t look like they’ve missed a beat. There a couple of new faces (mainly Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s gambler, Johnny) but for the most part, if this first trailer is to be believed, it’s just like going to an old familiar place. A place that just happens to be really bad for your health.

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in “Sin City: A Day to Kill For.” Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants.

You could say that this sequel is just more of the same, and you would totally 100% correct. But when more of the same means more visually striking noir coolness, I’m all for it.

I must admit though, I do think that the dubstep soundtrack really hurts this trailer. It completely doesn’t gel with the visuals or feel of the series, and something a bit less robot fart noise-ish could have really upped this trailer from good to great.

We will be visiting Sin City when it lands in cinemas on August 22, 2014.

“Also, it taught us that Tobey Maguire could be a right creepy bastard.”

Yeah, Tobey Maguire wasn’t in Sin City…

Loved the first film but I’m not entirely sold on this yet.
