Peanuts (4)

Movie adaptations of comic strips do not come along often. Outside of Garfield it’s hard to find any others – and they are usually taken from very classic strips such as Little Nemo in Slumberland, Smurfs or Dick Tracy. We very nearly had a Popeye adaptation, but that has since sailed out to sea.

In light of that, trying to adapt the greatest comic strip of all time is a massive endeavour. I’m sure that comment riles the Calvin & Hobbes fans, but nothing before or after has matched the influence of Peanuts. Charlie Brown, Snoopy and co have been a part of our lives for decades, yet never got the feature film treatment.

There have been Peanuts movies, but they scaled themselves back to mere moving versions of the comic strip. Not that those were easy to make – but bringing Peanuts into 3D was no small feat, especially not if the film makers wanted to keep it as close to the original while still giving it that big movie shine.

Well, unless the reviews come back as awful, I’m going to say they nailed it:

Nailed it with a Gatling nailgun.
