Hans Zimmer talks about possibly scoring BATMAN VS SUPERMAN

Whether you loved or hated Man of Steel, one thing is for certain: Composer Hans Zimmer knocked the ball out of the park and into outer space with the soundtrack for that film. Some may disagree, but I like to think that Zimmer has created one of the defining tracks for that movie, that has finally surpassed the John Williams original.

It’s a radically different score from his work on the Batman trilogy as well. And with that kind of experience under his belt, could Zimmer return to audio up a movie that includes both caped crusaders?

MAN OF STEEL

At a recent event, Zimmer was asked if he would consider taking on that job for the upcoming Zack Snyder directed sequel. Here’s what he had to say, in case you can’t watch the video:

This is really complicated for me. We all went, ‘Okay, we’re done with Batman’ and now it’s sort of getting smuggled back in. I have to have a think about that one. I might give you a new Batman if I do it.

A new Batman? Well he makes a good point. We’ve got no idea how Snyder is going to portray this incarnation of the character

As for the news of Ben Affleck taking on the mantle of the bat:

I actually think it’s a really good choice because number one, he’s a great filmmaker, he’s smart – he wouldn’t have taken it if he [was] setting himself up for a fall. He’s a bit older these days and that’s what we need. And he’s got a good chin.

I honestly want to hear more of the Superman tracks that Zimmer has in mind for that sequel if he returns, but I’d also dig to hear a new Batman theme. Zimmer came up with some fantastic bits of audio, but to me, they weren’t as iconic as the Tim Burton era of Batman films that had Danny Elfman providing that score.

But I’m more than willing to give him a second chance.

  1. Loved the Superman soundtrack, it was suitably… heroic. Great composer and he’s worked on more movies than Nic Cage!
