Easily one of my favourite actresses right now has to be Kristin Wiig. She got a great start in comedy in Saturday Night Live, making several episodes actually bearable and worth watching and that of course led to feature film roles. She’s been doing mostly comedy work since then, from Bridesmaids through to Anchorman 2. But it looks like the Wiiger is heading into some drama territory next.

In the nine breathtaking stories that make up her celebrated tenth collection, Alice Munro achieves new heights, creating narratives that loop and swerve like memory, and conjuring up characters as thorny and contradictory as people we know ourselves.

A tough-minded housekeeper jettisons the habits of a lifetime because of a teenager’s practical joke. A college student visiting her brassy, unconventional aunt stumbles on an astonishing secret and its meaning in her own life. An incorrigible philanderer responds with unexpected grace to his wife’s nursing-home romance.

Truly, there is no crueler creature than a teenage girl with an axe to grind.  Hateship Loveship also stars Nick Nolte, Guy Pearce, and Hailee Steinfeld,  with a limited release on April 4. So you’ll need to probably wait for a local home release for this one. Much like I wait for Kristen Wiig to answer my fan mail.
