Want to feel really old today? In just two years time, the first Back to the Future film will be thirty years old. Back in 1985, director Robert Zemeckis and writer-producer Bob Gale created something magical, alongside co-stars Michael J “Marty McFly” Fox and Christopher “Doc Brown” Lloyd.

But it wasn’t an easy road to 88 MPH. There’s a story behind the making of the film, a story that is deserving of a documentary. Time to Kickstart one, that examines the iconic film from the viewpoint of its biggest star. The Delorean.

I don’t there’s anyone alive today who saw the films and did not fall in love with that modified car. From weird to cool, it still turns heads to this day as the time machine of choice. Just visually, it’s a treat that knocks the socks off of the Jules Verne contraption and the Doctors’ TARDIS. At this time of writing, the Kickstarter campaign for Back in Time has close to $8000 pledged so far, out of the $33 120 that it needs, with more than a month to go. And unlike several other documentary-based Kickstarters, this one looks like it has some real quality behind the lens.

There’s still some time to make it a reality, so crank up the Flux capacitor and make it so.
