While several of you were busy getting your rAge on this weekend past, the New York Comic-Con was going down over in the Big Apple. NYCC may not be as big a deal as San Diego Comic-Con, but that didn’t mean that there weren’t some big reveals. And the first arrived on Saturday when, ahead of its NYCC panel, Lionsgate released the first trailer for their upcoming feature film reboot of Power Rangers. And I’ll be damned if it doesn’t actually look pretty decent.

The trailer keeps things impessively under wraps so that you only see hints of what’s going to happen later, but we at least get introduced to Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott (who may just be up for the female lead in the Star Wars Han Solo prequel film) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger.

There’s only a brief glimpse of Elizabeth Banks as villain witch Rita Repulsa, and no look yet at Bryan Cranston (yes, that Bryan Cranston) as Zordon, but even without its two big name actors, Power Rangers is still looking better than I thought it would.

Check out the trailer below.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

So basically, it’s The Breakfast Club mixed with Chronicle with some kung fu and giant robots eventually thrown into the mix? I can dig that!

Along with the trailer, we also had some new character posters debut, which may just make you want to go go see this movie.

Not nearly enough hand-waviness during dialog

“Anaconda is going to be put to rest”
There is a “that’s what she said” joke in there
