With movies like Training Day, End of Watch, Harsh Times and (unfortunately) Sabotage under his belt, it’s clear that writer-director David Ayer has a thing for telling tales about the men involved in modern law enforcement. Come this November though, Ayer will be upgrading a bit, going from tanking leading men to actual tanks, and from a war on crime to the biggest war in human history, as he tackles Fury, his star-studded WWII film.

We’ve heard quite a bit about the film, and in the case of Shia LaBeouf even smelled quite a bit, but we had yet to actually see Brad Pitt’s Sergeant Wardaddy and his tank crew in action. That all changed yesterday at Wargamer.net’s “World of Tanks” exhibition at the E3 gaming expo (the popular video game will apparently be getting some Fury tie-in content), where a new featurette/trailer for Fury was unveiled, giving the first look at the film both in front of and behind the scenes.

It is April, 1945.  As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.  Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

That looks very impressive thus far, and with that cracking cast to draw on, Ayer may just putting the gore soaked embarrassment that is Sabotage behind him, and getting back to his winning ways. Plus, it has been far too long since Hollywood produced a good new WWII movie.

Along with this footage, some new pics for the tank film have also come blasting in, courtesy of IGN.

Fury stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs, and Scott Eastwood, and is scheduled for release on November 14, 2014.
