Here's your first look and official synopsis for Guy Ritchie's KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE

We’re knights of the round table, we dance whenever we’re able! While I still maintain that Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the greatest King Arthur movie ever made, I’m kind of keen to see what Guy Ritchie’s Arthurian vision looks like. There’s a lot riding on this flick, as it’ll set up a whole new shared universe of Knights Of The Round Table movies, because that’s the in-thing right now. So without further ado, here’s your first peak into the new world of King Arthur, as well as the official synopsis for the film:

The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.

With any other director at the helm, that synopsis would sound ridiculous. But if anyone can make a streetsmart King Arthur film, I’ve got confidence in Ritchie. King Arthur will of course be played by Pacific Rim’s Charlie Hunnam, but he’s not the only big name in the cast. Astrid “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” Bergès-Frisbey is Guinevere; Jude Law is the villainous Vortigern; Eric Bana is Arthur’s dad Uther Pendragon; Djimon Hounsou is Resistance leader Bedivere and Aidan Gillen is Goosefat Bill.

That’s a strong cast, and I’m keen to see the result when the film debuts next year June 22.

Shweet. Would love a great live-action Arthur movie… There have been far too few since the awesome “Excalibur” (some entertaining ones, sure… But nothing as epic!).
