Believe it or not, but some people had an issue with the fictional character of Electro being played by a black actor in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, because he happened to be white in the comics. To those people, I say bugger off, because this is Jamie Foxx we’re talking about here, one of the finest actors of this generation.

And now, just look at what your harsh criticism has done! You’ve made Mr Foxx feel blue! Very, very blue indeed!

Courtesy of the Daily Mail via Comic Book Movie, comes these fresh pics of Foxx in his electric make-up guise. It’s clear that for this movie, director Marc Webb is going for a look that is more in tune with the Ultimate Comics counterpart, as opposed to the mainstream continuity version that runs around New York in green spandex and with a massive lightning bolt mask on. Here are those pictures then:

Personally, I’m hoping that Foxx utters a quote along the lines of “everything is proceeding exactly as I have foreseen”. Now bear in mind as well, a character such as Electro is also going to require quite a bit of special FX in the post-production stage, to add some lightning to those veins and wattnot. What we see here is most likely the template, and will pop better with those effects added in later.

But so far, I quite dig it. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out on my birthday, May 2 (HINT HINT) next year and also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, Chris Cooper and B.J. Novak .

  1. I think he looks awesome! I’ve already arranged to have the last year’s worth of shower plug hair sent to you for this bday, so you won’t be feeling alone 😉

Its completely unexpected (seeing as how how the new Spidey costume is going to be the closest it’s ever been to the traditional comic version), but I really like it.
