Firstly, yes, I know exactly how that headline sounds you perverts. Secondly, it would appear that today is the day for debuting super heroes. Earlier this morning we got our first proper look at Vision, Paul Bettany’s android super hero in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as the debut of Daredevil’s new little red number a bit later, and now it’s time for… Well, there’s only one way to put this: IT’S CLOBBERING’ TIME!

Thanks to a small new batch of pics released by Fox yesterday (via Empire, EW) , we can now finally see what Jamie Bell’s Ben Grimm will look like in his post-transformation rocky alter ego as The Thing.

If you ask me (and since you’re reading this article I’m assuming that you are), that looks pretty awesome. Which is not something that is often said about the version of the character we saw in the previous two films, which looked like nothing more than a guy in rubber suit because… Well, because it was just a guy in a rubber suit (don’t worry, Michael Chiklis, you will still have our respect for The Shield).

This time around director Josh Trank pulled an Andy Serkis and had Bell do the motion capture for the character who was then rendered entirely via digital effects. And Aunt Petunia’s favourite blue-eyed nephew has never looked better. According to what Trank told Empire, “Jamie in real life is a tough guy. He exudes this strength. Ben is Reed’s best friend in the archetypal, spiritual way, and you want that character to have that warmth and that strength.”

Along with the shot of The Thing we also have an additional two pics, one showing off the team at the peak of what appears to be some rock outcropping – probably in the alternate dimension which gives them their powers – as well as another that appears to be the most aggressive physiotherapy session ever.

Fantastic Four also stars Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Toby Kebbel as Victor von Doom, Reg E. Cathey as Dr. Franklin Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder (aka Mole Man). It hits theatres on August 7, 2015.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
