Japanese trailers are awesome. They’re crazier than greenlighting a direct sequel to Police Academy: Mission to Moscow, and they usually don’t give a crap if children get traumatized in the process, or suffer an epileptic fit because bright flashing lights.
With Hugh Jackman returning as The Wolverine, we’ve got a spin-off film here that is set primarily in Japan, so interest in the movie is riding high over in the land of the rising sun, thanks to that location shooting and because several prominent Japanese actors also feature in the movie. Here’s the Japanese trailer for it, which has some new video popping out in a berserker rage.
I’ll be honest here, this a trailer for the fans. If you’re low on bandwidth and find unstoppable Canadian killing machines boring, then you might want to go away. Also, the film is now known as Wolverine: Samurai in the East. Weird.
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.
The Wolverine is out in June, and stars Hugh Jackumanu as the immortal mutant, with Jameseru Mangoldu directing.
