Hold onto your headbands, they're making a RAMBO TV series!

Sylvester Stallone has spent the last couple of years on an one-man mission to put the “men” back in entertainment. This badass renaissance arguably started with 2008’s Rambo, the fourth film in the action franchise in which John Rambo thoroughly educated us on the effects of a .50 caliber bullet on the human body.

And it now it looks like we’re in for some home schooling, as according to reports Rambo’s lessons of violence will soon be showing up on a TV screen near you.

According to Variety, production companies Entertainment One and Nu Image will be teaming up with Avi Lerner – who produced Rambo as well as Stallone’s The Expendables – to develop a TV series based on the franchise. And for those of you now worrying that they would replace the man himself with some young pretty boy, have no fear as it’s said that Sylvester Stallone is currently in talks to reprise his iconic role, as well being “involved on a creative level”.

We know that Stallone has been talking for years about reviving the character for further adventures (at one point a sequel was on the table which would see Rambo going on one last hurrah south of the border to kill him some Mexicans before he himself being sent to the great Vietnam POW camp in the sky), so this may just be how he can get it done. Reviving the character, I mean, not killing Mexicans. Though that option is definitely not off the table.

Now the question remains in how Stallone can fit in a full TV series with his busy schedule? Will this truly be a full-on Rambo adventure (with all the obligatory exploded body parts) in episodic format or could this perhaps just go the now-aborted Beverley Hills Cop TV series route with the original actor reprising his role but purely in a guest-star, mentorship capacity to a new generation?

Son of Rambo*, anyone? Yeah, didn’t think so.

Whatever approach they take, I’m just hoping that they revive the tradition begun in the 80’s Rambo and the Freedom Forces cartoon, of having Rambo getting dressed all over again BEFORE EVERY SINGLE FIGHT, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE FACT THAT HE WAS ALREADY WEARING A HEADBAND AND BOOTS!

If they keep the vibe of Rambo 4 and release it on Starz, I’m there.
