Idris Elba confirms that he'll reprise his role for Thor 2

With The Avengers done and dusted, it’s time to look forward to a whole new crop of superhero films. The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man are just around the corner, while work on Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 has begun.

Thor was one of those films that had many great actors in it, such as Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman, with an underrated performance from Idris Elba, as the solemn gatekeeper Heimdall.

He’s going to be back for the sequel, as soon as he’s done playing a certain president and national icon, who goes by the name of Nelson Mandela. Perhaps you’ve heard of him?

Speaking to Collider, Elba was quite confident of his future acting plans, and when asked if he would reappear as Heimdall, he had this to say;

Yes, I am.  I’m definitely going to do my man in a suit film.

While Gate Guardian may not be the most exciting career prospect in the Asgardian world, Elba explained how he wanted to grow the character;

I’d just like to get to know him a bit more.  Who is Heimdall?  He guards the gate.  Okay.  Is there anything else?  I don’t know what is in the script because I haven’t read it yet.

But, the audience has responded to Asgard and wants to know more about who lives there and what it’s about.  I’m sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more.

Sounds good so far, but it remains to bes een how much of a role Heimdall has in the final film, beyond being frozen into a kickass pop-sickle again. As for Elba, look out for him in his next role, as the spaceship captain in this little film called Prometheus.

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
