Dinner, gnocchi alla gorgonzola

When I was growing up, there was a humble little Italian take away joint that instilled in me a love for continental fare. And while the place had fantastic osso bucco, saltimbocca and carne pizzaiola – along with more common pasta and pizza dishes, there’s just one thing I kept on ordering: Gnocchi Gorgonzola.

Little soft, chewy balls of dough made – usually – from potatoes, Gnocchi are a treat. Generally eaten as a primo piatto before mains, I’d gorge myself on the things, not needing anything else. And the right sauce, topping or coating helps gnocchi transcend being a simple starter to being sublime. While they’re good with a bit of sage and butter, a bit of basil pesto or ever tomato based sauces, they’re just heavenly when smothered in a creamy gorgonzola; a buttery blue cheese with a sharp bite.

Gnocchi till I die.

I got that Ciri dlc last week when they accidentally released it. I disabled soon afterwards when I saw screenshots from people that had duplicate Ciris appear after they enabled it. At least it’s officially out now.

I find sailing around to all the question marks a bit of a pain in Skellige. Way too many smugglers caches where you first have to kill a bunch of sirens or drowners before looting.

You eat out every (or most) Tuesday’s and matter something about family responsibility. Something to do with Parents in law, if memory serves. Enjoy. We did that growing up, eat with Grandparents out once a week. It was awesome. Fond memories.

Good memory. This week it’s my family for a change though.
Mostly we don’t eat out, we just eat at my wife’s dad’s place. Which is better than eating out 🙂 When it’s cold like now though, I’m not too fond of going too far from home though.

So, now that I have Netflix. What to watch?
Walking Dead? if at all gruesome or sick, wife will not watch.

    re watching White Collar. fun.

Any suggestions? Sci-fi? (Sci-fi is not horror, but seems to be mixed up in it)

Eureka was, for me, streets and streets ahead of Warehouse 13. That grated on me. I cared about the characters in Eureka, but the ones in Warehouse could all have died and been replaced and I would not have cared.

Wife and I have, over the years, basically watched Eureka twice, on DSTV channels.

🙂 Most people are idiots, it seems. I do not want to write a thesis here, but suffice to say of all the Starfleet captains, she got the raw deal being flung to the Delta Quadrant. And whilst I am sure Picard would have done a sterling job in the same situation, Janeway did it in a way I could only describe as being awesome.
SHe had no help from Starfleet. No previous alliances she could count on.
Plus the way that she dealt with her crew, the respect she gave them and how she cared for their well being are things I honestly believe a lot of leaders in this world can learn from.
