It is the bane.
But, I tend to work as thus. Arrive at work just before 8. Meetings, meetings, project progress and stuff. Leave just after five. Setup laptop at home in TV room on table. Wait for wife and baby to hit the hay. Work a bit. sometimes a lot. Play some games. I find that a much better use of my time, to leave work at 17:00 (well, still here now) and then carry on working later on.
Oh, and my meetings are strictly regimented. Agenda, purpose, get out.

If I need to put in a few extra hours I’ll rather get up earlier in the morning, that way I get my whole evening undisturbed. Also comes with the added bonus of there being very little traffic at 4am.
