I’ve realised I hate something more than I hate Christmas. No, not those perfidious, taunting stars they used to put on the naughty bits in Scope magazine, although I really disliked those silver nipple obfuscators. The current bane of my existence, the reason for my sullen, grumpy face today is that most annoying of all winged arthropods – the high-pitched, blood-sucking, flying devil bug known as the mosquito. F*ck mosquitoes.
They say that Johannesburg’s East Rand is a tough place (filled with bruisers and mullets and racing stripes). I’m inclined to agree; since moving to the east (your pity is most welcome) I’ve found even the mosquitoes to be noticeably bigger and tougher; those bastards bite me and I swell up like a fleshy, hairy (and infuriatingly itchy) balloon.
On a much cooler note, our Nick de Bruyne was on national radio today, punting our favourite games for the gift-giving season. Did you manage to tune in? I think he did a stellar job, actually; much to my disappointment he didn’t embarrass himself in front of the whole country. Sure, he may not have mentioned your favourite game, but he made some pretty smart choices.

I don’t think it will be dead in the water. It’s just that somehow publishers haven’t realised that the masses don’t love MMO’s, they love WoW. A few other MMO’s like some stuff from NC Soft does well, but when it comes to mass love, WoW did something right apparently, all of the other attempts have failed really hard. Look at WAR and LOTRO
