“Yippie-Ki-Yay, motherf#$%er!”

And now we finally know who said maternal molester is going to be in wild-eyed cop John McClane’s 5th adventure, A Good Day To Die Hard. Cole Hauser, who has made a name for himself playing roughneck ne’er-do-wells and who also previously starred across from Willis in Tears of the Sun and Hart’s War, will be donning the black hat when McClane travels to Russia to meet with his estranged son (Jai Courtney), only to become entangled in a terrorist plot, leaving the pair as the most wanted men in the country. ‘Cause that’s just how McClane rolls.

We also got our first look at the film’s new Russian-centric logo as well as the grizzled Willis (though not looking very Die-Hardish) thanks to some on-set photos.

Tom Rothman, Fox CE, recently spoke to Collider about A Good Day To Die Hard, where he revealed some more about the story.

“It’s really a father-son story, which is that John McClane’s been a great cop his whole life but he’s been a pretty lousy father. He has a grown son who he’s not really been in much touch with, and McClane thinks the son’s a f-ck up — that’s a technical term. […] So he goes to Russia, he thinks, to bail his son out of jail, and it turns out the son’s not a f-ck up, he’s the antithesis of that. In fact, the apple has not fallen far from the tree, the apple has not fallen from the tree, which is that the son is a badder ass John McClane than John McClane.”

“It comes to the point in the story where they’re basically the most wanted men in the entire Soviet Union, and it’s the two of them against all of the bad guys. I’ve just gotta say, it’s a classic, classic Die Hard.”

No disrespect to Jai Courtney, but I highly doubt he’s going to out-badass John McClane. Once he’s ran across broken glass barefoot, wearing a blood-soaked wife-beater, to jump off a building with nothing but a fire hose to stop himself from falling to his death, then we can maybe even think of making comparisons.
