We had read the rumours, made sure we weren’t drunk, and then read the rumours again just to be sure. But now it’s been confirmed: Full House, the long-running 1980’s sitcom that unfortunately foisted the Olsen twins on modern society is coming back! Online streaming service Netflix has placed a 13-episode order for the new show, now titled Fuller House. This revival is being spearheaded by the original creator Jeff Franklin, and is scheduled to debut in all Netflix territories in 2016.

The original show starred Bob Saget as Danny Tanny, “a widowed father who enlists his best friend (Dave Coulier) and his brother-in-law (John Stamos) to help raise his three daughters” – thanks, Wikipedia – and Fuller House will be taking a similar, initially tragic premise.

This time around though, the show will be focusing on Danny’s eldest daughter in Candace Cameron-Bure’s now grown-up DJ Tanner-Fuller (get it? Fuller House?!), a mother of two, pregnant with a third child, who finds herself recently widowed in San Francisco. She ropes in her now grown-up younger sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and life-long best friend Kimmy (Andrea Garber) to move in and help her raise her kids and new baby.

Here’s the official blurb, courtesy of ComingSoon.net:

In “Fuller House,” the adventures that began in 1987 on “Full House” continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco. D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby.

John Stamos, who is also producing the new sitcom, confirmed on Monday on the Jimmy Kimmel show that he would be reprising his role as Uncle Jessie in a guest star capacity. At this point, negotiations with Saget, Coulier, the Olsen twins and Louri Loughlin (who played Jessie’s wife Rebecca) about also making guest appearances are still underway. You would have to think that they will definitely showing up though, because one look at their IMDB pages tell me that their calendars are reasonably free nowadays.

Creator Jeff Franklin and his fellow co-executive producers Robert L. Boyett and Thomas L. Miller, issued this joint statement about the decision to bring back the show.

“The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”

So what do you guys think? Can’t wait for more Full House or do you just wish that these people would leave your memories alone? Rumour has it that Darryn is very excited over this return as he can now finally dust his John Stamos poster collection out of storage again.

I honestly don’t know. I mean I know I used to enjoy watching Full House as a youngster, but I was also very stupid as a youngster.
