Doctor Who

I’d be lying if I told you that I wasn’t excited for The Day Of The Doctor, the November 23rd episode that celebrates 50 years of Doctor Who. Hell, if I was hooked up to a lie detector and attempted to fib on that question, the damn thing would explode.

There’s been some doubt as to whether or not we’d get to see the episode in line with the rest of the world, where the BBC is being ambitious as hell with that massive broadcast. Well fret no more, because we’ll see at the same time as everyone else. Kind of. Wibbly wobbly time zones, know what I mean?

The 50th Anniversary special of Doctor Who will be simultaneous broadcast with the UK in the following countries according to the Beeb:

Europe

  • Germany (Fox), Finland (YLE), Poland (BBC Entertainment), Russia (Karousel and NKS)

North America

  • USA (BBC America), Canada (Space)

Latin America (on BBC Entertainment and BBC HD)

  • Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala,  Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela

Africa (on BBC Entertainment)

  • Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde Islands, Central African Republic, Chad,  Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania & Zanzibar, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Australia (ABC)

Asia (on BBC Entertainment)

  • Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand

Yep, that’s us there in that massive list of African countries. I’m not certain on the exact time yet, but it’ll be in the evening for us on the DSTV channel BBC Entertainment. Have pity on the poor Australian and American fans that have to wake up at Gallifrey knows what hour in order to watch.

Showrunner Steven Moffat is promising a massive special, that see current Doctor Matt Smith unite with his previous incarnation played by David Tennant. And of course, there’s the mystery surrounding John Hurt’s character, and the role he played in the final days of the Last Great Time War between the Time Lords and the Daleks.
