Stephen King ruined the lives of many kids when his book It was first adapted as a miniseries back in the 90s. To be fair, we were probably too young to be watching the movie in the first place. It was a movie about a clown though, how could we have known it would scar us for life? Now it’s time for a completely new generation to suffer from gingerphobia coulrophobia. Sorry, was thinking of the wrong clown there.
Andres Muschietti’s take on the film looks incredibly frightening and possibly even scarier than miniseries we were subjected to back then. While this trailer shows the director makes use of the jump scare tactic that has plagued the horror genre for several years now, he also seems to have built a genuinely terrifying mood to the film and done wonders in making Pennywise look even more terrifying as a clown.
I’m genuinely getting excited. It’s rare that a remake can ever achieve the magic of the original and even less so in the horror genre, but so far everything I have seen and read about this movie indicates that it is on the right track to doing just that. And the best news is, we don’t have too long to wait as the film comes our way in September.
This new take on Stephen King’s It sees Bill Skarsgard take on the role of every kid’s worst nightmare, and also includes an incredible ensemble of talented youngsters who will take him on (i.e. run as far away as possible) in Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard , Wyatt Oleff , Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton.
So, if your child keeps on nagging you to take them to the circus and you can’t explain why you don’t want to go – you know what to do. You can always count on Critical Hit to give you great parenting advice.

Still not sold on this. The original has a very special place in the dark, fearful corner of my mind.
Do I hope it’s going to kick ass? Of course I do.
Do I expect it to kick ass? No.
With regards to the ending, though, I cannot see them doing it worse than it was done in the original.
“Oh no, the scary clown is so horrible, it’s been tormenting us for all these years! Let’s wait for it to turn into a giant spider and then rip its heart out.”
