Just the other day we brought you the first eye-popping look at Wu-Tang Clan rapstroadinaire, the RZA’s brand new Kung Fu film, The Man With the Iron Fists. And now the first trailer has dropped and it certainly delivers on the brutal and absolutely crazy promise of that first image.
So if you’ve ever wondered who would win in a fight between a gold-plated Dave Bautista, a gun-slinging Russel Crowe, a deadly fanning Lucy Liu and a rapsmith with literal iron fists, then this is the movie for you!
I have no idea what I just saw as that was some crazy sh!t, but all I do know is that I really want to see more! The RZA’s love of all things martial arts has been well documented over the years, and it looks like he has just been given free rein to bring his fanboy dreams to the screen. And I don’t know about you guys, but I’m loving what I’m seeing thus far.
Also, golden Dave Bautista? Phwoar!
Synopsis:
Quentin Tarantino presents “The Man With the Iron Fists,” an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA-alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu-tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.
Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.
Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

This looks like an insane amount of… something. Craziness?

That looks…cool…I guess. I liked the look of Batista and the concept with him.
Though I’m worried that this will be one of those films that strives for coolness and the epical and will fall short. I’d like to be surprised though.
Hopefully, RZA can show an insight and understanding of what actually makes something cool and epic and not just fall into the trap of mimicry.
