The Amazing Spider-Man sequel may have every single villain that they can get their hands on, from Rhino to Green Goblin, but it’s clear that Jaime Foxx’s Electro is going to steal the show as the most electryfin’ villain in all of Hollywood entertainment.
But he’s going to be more than just your mustache-twirlin’ sociopath. He’s going to be a bad guy that you might actually be rooting for in the sequel.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Foxx said that Electro would still be a character that audiences could relate to, even when he achieves an electric godhood. Heck, there might even be a scene where he teams up with the wallcrawler:
I think with all of the Spider-Man villains there is a certain empathy to them. The way we crafted Electro, when he’s Max you definitely feel for him because he’s been sort of shut out and no one really cares about him. And it’s his birthday and even his mom forgot his birthday, so you will feel that. So when he does turn into Electro it’s serious venom, he really wants to hurt everybody, and when he feels like Spider-Man betrays him he really wants to hurt him bad.
That’s quite true actually. If there’s one thing that the Raimi Spider-Man films got right, it was that you actually felt something for the bad guys. Green Goblin showed an ounce of humanity just before he died, Doc Ock wasn’t a lost cause, Sandman was seeking forgiveness and even Venom was who he was because of the humiliation he had suffered at the hands of Parker.
I’m curious to see how Foxx will get the character to emote on the big screen. Once he’s done being more destructive with electricity than even Eskom could ever dream about.

I’m not looking forward to this at all. Hated the first Garfield one, but Electro looks a bit Doctor Freeze’ish to me.
