Holy remake Batman! Is nothing sacred in Hollywood? Nope! Now hold my belt while I show the corpse of It’s a Wonderful Life what my batarang looks like. Yep, Los Angeles is home to many up and coming remakes right now, and one particular film franchise that has everyone up in arms is the reboot of The Crow.
While it’s still way too early to really form a mob with pitchforks and torches at the ready, at least the pre-production for that flick is doing something right. And that’s roping in the creator of that original source material, James O’Barr to help lend his input to the film.
Relativity Media is pushing ahead with the movie, which will star Luke Evans in the role made iconic by Brandon Lee. Starring as a man murdered by criminals, Draven is mysteriously resurrected by a supernatural crow, and finds himself now incapable of dying. Naturally, revenging follows. The film has F. Javier Gutiérrez directing, with a script supplied by Cliff Dorfman, with O’Barr on board to promote the movie basically.
“It is important for Crow fans to understand that Relativity, Javier, Luke and the entire team are working on a new adaptation of the book itself,” said O’Barr in a statement picked up by Variety. “I believe that this movie will stand alongside Brandon and his film as a valid work of art, and I look forward to collaborating on the project.”
Filming starts next year, and hopefully O’Barr actually adds something to the production instead of being trotted out as a PR horse to appease the masses when he hits the convention circuit.

New adaption? Okay, I’ll give it a chance. Just leave the original alone.
