Jason Bateman has some BAD WORDS to direct

The star of Arrested Development, Horrible Bosses and the Change-Up is no stranger when it comes to being behind the camera. He’s directed quite a few TV projects, but has yet to make the leap from small screen to big screen.

Well that’s all changing, as he’ll be Clint Eastwooding his way into his debut feature, which he’ll star in as well, an indie comedy by the name of Bad Words.

Written by Andrew Dodge, Bad Words will see Bateman exploiting a loophole to crash a spelling bee contest for children, according to Variety. Further details as follows:

The bastard child of the organizer of the national spelling bee gets his revenge by finding a loophole and attempting to win the bee as an adult, only to find friendship in a young Indian contestant.

A female reporter will also be present, most likely to serve as the love interest, while Bateman will expose his young Indian contestant rival to “the wilder side of life.”

Sounds like a pretty decent project actually, and it’ll be interesting to see Bateman drop the goody two-shoes act for something more mean-spirited in nature.
