Jennifer Lawrence is a star that just keeps burning brighter, enjoying a very successful acting career with a couple of massive franchises under the belt – and picking up awards along the way. But it would seem that the talented 25-year-old is not just content with acting anymore and wants to step behind the camera to do some directing as well.

Speaking to the guys at Entertainment Weekly Lawrence gave some details on the project as well as her long time desire to direct a movie. Here’s what the starlet had to say:

I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act. I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it. I’d also like to direct a comedy.

I’m sure Lawrence would do great with comedy but the project she is focusing her attention on for her debut will lean more towards the dark side it seems.

I’ve signed on to direct something called Project Delirium — it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong.

The movie will be roughly based on a 2012 New Yorker article entitled Operation Delirium, which chronicles secret U.S. Army experiments that took place during the Cold War, between the years 1960 and 1969. These experiments were conducted by Colonel James S. Ketchum, where he tried to come up with a mixture of chemicals that would incapacitate, but not kill, enemies. He experimented on more than 5,000 soldiers, using a number of different chemicals such as LSD, BZ and even marijuana, which caused severe mental damage in many of the patients.

These gas masks were reconditioned at the Edgewood Arsenal for civilian defense use during World War II. Later, in the 1950s and '60s, the arsenal near the Chesapeake Bay was used for secret chemical weapons testing run by the U.S. Army.

It certainly seems an ambitious task to undertake for her first attempt but I wouldn’t be surprised if Lawrence knocks this one out of the park, especially with The Hunger Games star saying she is finally ready for the challenge.

It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.

Lawrence is also co-writing an Untitled Comedy with Amy Schumer that they both plan to star in.

There are no further details on the movie or possible release date at this point. You can however look forward to seeing Lawrence star with Chris Pratt in Passengers which will be released December 21, 2016
