Jim Carrey has a joint to case in LOOMIS FARGO

While Jim Carrey may be enforcing some vigilante justice in an upcoming cameo for Kick-Ass 2, he still needs to look ahead for his next movie project. And with an effort to take on roles that are less funny and more frowny-face sad and dramatic, he may just be acting on the other side of the law, as he’s currently in negotiations to star in Loomis Fargo, a film about one of the biggest ever bank heists on American soil.

Based on the 2002 book, Heist!, that was written by Jeff Diamant, Loomis Fargo tells the story of how former bank employee David Ghantt managed to rob an armoured truck of over $17 million.

Alongside his fellow employee Kelly Campbell and his high school pal Steve Chambers, the trio managed to grab a ton of cash, with Ghantt fleeing to Mexico with a mere $50 000 of his take. Ghantt intended to live it up with annual payments into his account, in order to avoid the federales over there, but after a year on the lamb, he was arrested and thrown into the slammer.

So far, Danny McBride and Jody Hill are working on the script, with Jared “Napoleon” Hess looking to direct, and start shooting next year in North Carolina.

Looks like that drama may have to wait a little longer, if McBride and Hill are working on a script, oh great pet detective.
