I’M GONNA WRECK IT! Disney is in a good place right now, with their current crop of CGI family movies being winners. It’s essentially a new Renaissance for the company, that saw the likes of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Hercules and The Little Mermaid dominate the box office and win hearts in the 1980s and 1990s.
Except now, we have films such as Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph that are mirroring that success. Out of all of them, Wreck-It Ralph may just be my favourite, thanks to its spot-on video game references, ridiculous story and characters that ranged from Fix-It Felix to Sergeant Calhoun and more. A good film, is what I’m saying.
And the box office numbers can back that up. Wreck-It Ralph earned over $471 million during its worldwide run, a figure that may not be as high as other Disney productions, but a damn fine one nonetheless.
Which means that a sequel was inevitable. Speaking to producer Penny Hart of Irish radio program “RTE Arena,”Wreck-It Ralph himself, John C. Reilly, confirmed that a follow-up film was on the way:
John C Reilly announced at the interview today that he has signed on for Wreck it Ralph 2!

Wreck-It Ralph is most likely a long ways away however. Disney has other flicks to attend to, with Zootopia and Moana in 2016, the Frozen sequel and other unannounced titles. As for what the Wreck-It Ralph sequel could be about, director Rich Moore still spoke of working in mobile and casual gaming, with Wreck-It Ralph meeting different versions of himself from various other gaming platforms.
